Moths and Butterflies (2018)
Moths and Butterflies is a film about love and the day-to-day interactions of a person who has been diagnosed with mental illness. As an artist, it is very important to me that I address the things I experience and witness within my family and community. As an African American, it’s a very taboo subject to talk about, and those that do live with mental illness are inheriting a stigma that they don't deserve. I’ve seen family members told to their face that they need Jesus more then their medicine. So after years of seeing people I know and love struggle, I wanted to face it and talk about it in a very honest and human way, that doesn't perpetuate any negative images or stereotypes. The film stars Amari Cheatom and Gillian Glasco.
